The Czech circuit of Nove Mesto na Morave has opened the 2017 XCO World Cup this weekend. The best international bikers have gathered in a race where Primaflor-Mondraker-Rotor Racing Team counted on seven bikers in four different categories.
Carlos Coloma was the best of them, the Olympic Bronze medal in Rio. After a great start avoiding a crash and getting to the front he fought for a place in the top 10 during the second part of the race. Nevertheless, he had to accept a 13th place that reaffirms him within the best cross country specialists.
Carlos Coloma: “I’ve had good sensations, fighting for the top ten all race long, I’ve been close but I couldn’t finally get it. I’m going to Germany very happy as we’re travelling to the next World Cup race next week in Albstadt. All in all, it’s been a beautiful weekend here in Nove Mesto na Morave”.
Nino Schurter is the first World Cup leader after an easy solo win as he dropped David Valero in the last laps. Mario Costa was 30th and Catriel Soto finished far from his usual positions after having a bad day.
Raiza Goulao and Josep Durán fulfill expectations in their first race.
As for the rest of categories, it is worth highlighting Josep Durán’s 25th position in U-23 and Raiza Goulao’s 26th in a women’s race that Joana Monteiro could not finish. María Rodríguez had the same luck in U-23 where Rocío García (Coloma Bike Club) achieved a remarkable 15th position.
Raiza Goulao: “I arrived to Nove Mestro confident and relaxed, I knew I just had to do my best. Counting on the whole PMRA Racing structure supporting me is priceless. After this first race, it’s time to recover and take care of myself during this next week as we have an important race on Saturday in Albstadt”.
