Only four seconds stopped Carlos Coloma from making his way into the top 10 best riders in the last leg of the XCO World Cup last Sunday in the Italian ski station in Val di Sole.
The Spaniard had set this goal for the closure of the highest comercial-team’s competition in mountain bike, the first one completed by Primaflor-Mondraker- Rotor-Ajram Capital.
Once again, Nino Schurter; who has completely dominated the competition, won the race as he has done in every single leg of the World Cup. Coloma, after a hectic start, has recovered positions until he cought up Pablo Rodirguez in the last lap of a technical and fast circuit. They worked together in an attempt to catch Jordan Sarrou (France) but they had to content themselves with the 11th and 12th position.
The bronze medallist in Rio 2016 concludes this way in the 14th position of the XCO World Cup general classification in spite of the bad result in Canada which stopped him from being in the top 10. Meanwhile, Catriel Soto was 35th in this leg with an increasing perforance.
Carlos Coloma: I’ve had some issues during the race but it’s just part of the competition. I’m happy with how I felt, it was very very good and also with the fact that everything is going as planned for the main goal of the season on September the 9th in Caims
As far as women’s competition goes, Raiza Goulao has shown again the consistency that made her being in the middle bunch in these XCO World Cup races. The Brazilian finished 29th in Val di Sole and a remarkable 22nd place in the XCO World Cup GC. As Coloma, Catriel and several other bikers of Primaflor-Modraker-Rotor, her challenge is now in Australia in the World Championships in two weeks’ time.
